Aviation Program

2012/15 Eagle EDGE Solutions is launching

THE OUTBACK AVIATION PROGRAM

SOUTH WEST QUEENSLAND

Eagle Edge Solution is seeking to develop an Outback Aviation Program for South-West Queensland for 2012- 2015.  The need for such an aviation program has been expressed by individuals, property owners and professionals working within the industry.  At present there are very limited aviation training facilities West of Toowoomba.  The greatest need, however, is for Indigenous and disadvantaged rural youth and adults to gain skills and experience that will result in them gaining employment.

Eagle EDGE Solutions (EES) is therefore seeking support from government, non-government and philanthropic organisations who will partner with EES and enable this innovative aviation program become a reality.

Christmas in July Mini Debutante Ball

Cunnamulla came alive, where they were in amazement of our beautiful junior Debutante's. The Mini Debutantes were aged from 5 years to 12 years. Each couple had been practicing their dancing for the past three months with their dance teachers Val Bulcholz and Mary Anne Johnstone.

The Mini Debutante Ball was largely funded through Eagle EDGE and Paroo Shire Youth Programs. A committee has been working hard this year with fundraising and networking with families to make this a special evening for some of our youngest residents of Cunnamulla.

The aims of the program

  • To build self-confidence within the youth
  • For the older girls, a girls group was established on a Monday afternoon, to deal with self esteem, sexual health, drug awareness, hygiene and healthy eating program.
  • For the boys, skills in dance and bringing back old time values "of how to treat a young lady."
  • For the young children participating for them to feel special.

We would especially like to thank the community for they support, especially all the best cooks in Cunnamulla who provided the evening meals, for Caroline Turnbull from the Cunnamulla State School and Highschool students who ran the kitchen and served the meals on the evening . The hall was full to capacity for the evening, everyone enjoyed seeing the young Debutantes presented to Mayor Jo Sheppard and special guest Santa Claus.

Scuba Diving in the Bush!DSCN7002

2011

Ask anyone in the “Bush” what they plan to do on the weekend, and the last thing they will say is “Scuba Diving!!”    Until now.

Locals across South West Queensland  will have the opportunity to do their “Discover Scuba Diving” Certificate this year.  No experience or equipment required – just basic swimming skills - and you could be on your way to a life long love of scuba diving.

This two and a half hour adventure includes a tutorial and lots of in-the-pool action as you learn the basics of breathing underwater.

Eagle EDGE Solutions have experienced dive instructors and trainers and are offering this opportunity to everyone 12 years or older, at a heavily reduced price.  “We’ve been really lucky to secure funding from the Dept of Communities’ Sport and Recreation Active Inclusion program, which is picking up most of the cost for what is usually a much more expensive training experience” said Wayne Dillon, Eagle EDGE manager and experienced diver.

“We’ve been teaching Scuba Diving in other South West towns for some time, but have always wanted to be able to offer this unique opportunity to the people of Charleville, Roma, St. George and other communities in the South West, and this funding has made that possible.”

The benefits of scuba diving go well beyond just the obvious, with past and continuing students showing better engagement at school, overcoming behavioral issues and working their way through their dive certificates to equip them to become professional divers working in a range of industries, including tourism on the Barrier Reef.

“We have the skills to work with you all the way through to your  PADI Dive Master certification, but it all starts with that first dip in the pool.”

“And its not just for the kids, we hope to see some mums and dads having a go too, or why not get your sporting group together and fill a class of 10?”

Bookings are expected to fill fast. So whether  you are 12  or 50 years “young” give it a go and Call Wayne on  0438 551 198.

Charleville - Scuba Basics

Across the weekend of March 4th - 6th, there were 22 participants that braved the wet weather to Discover Scuba!

The two and a half hour course included training by PADI professional Dive Instructor, Wayne Dillon, and Dive Master Jane Dillon.

All participants did exceptional well and covered much more that their Basic Discover SCUBA Cert. There is a lot of exceptional talent busting to go on to the next level. The PADI Open Water SCUBA Qualifications is the passport to the underwater world and these people are deficiently up for it.

Big thanks to Susan from Youth invest Charleville for all her hard work in getting the word out and throwing her self into it boots and all. You're a 10! Also the crew at the pool were were a big help in making the weekend a success. Thanks heaps.
