Youth Dive in 4 Learning

Funded by FaHCSIA

The Youth Dive in 4 Life project is to provide an extremely challenging program where young people are focused and engaged in meeting their goals, through the program. Based on the learning Principles of the Scuba Diving program will support the participants in reflecting on where they are currently at with their lives and what they can do to reduce the risks of a poor education or getting into trouble with the police. Aim:

To use a dynamic sports program (Scuba Diving) to help young people to make better choices and to develop one significant relationship that will encourage the individual when "It all gets hard". The program will be designed to help youth to look at the choices they make, and to look at how they can alter their mind set to make better choices in their life's.
This project will incorporate behaviour management skills for youth, literacy, numeracy and technology.

Program:

The program was based in Cunnamulla, where Wayne Dillon instructed the youth in their PADI Open Water training. Youth did all their confine water training in the Cunnamulla Swimming Pool and their Open Water training was held at Airlie Beach .

A big thank you goes to Maryanne Johnstone from the Cunnamulla Swimming Pool, who allowed us to use the pool out of hours. Also we would like to thank Hutchinson Builders in Airlie Beach who provided us with accommodation and meals.
